The Hormone Fairy Rock Cakes (Menopause)

Here’s a sample of a great healthy treat recipe for my Menopause clients, The Hormone Fairy Rock Cakes.  You’ll find a whole range of tasty nutritious recipes on The Hormone Fairy 30 day plan.


40z/ 100g / 1 cup soya flour

40z/ 100g / 1 cup wholemeal flour

40z/ 100g / 1 cup rolled oats

40z/ 100g / 1 cup linseeds

2oz / 50g / 1/2 cup sunflower seeds

2oz / 50g / 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds

2oz / 50g / 1/2 cup sesame seeds

2oz / 50g / 1/2 cup flaked almonds

2 pieces stem ginger finely chopped

8oz / 225g / 1 1/2 cups raisins

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground gingers

1 tablespoon malt extract

approx. 15fl oz / 425ml / 2 cups soya milk


  1. Put all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl
  2. add milk and malt extract
  3. Mix well adn leave to soak for around 30 minutes, mixture should be of a dropping consistency so add more milk if needed.
  4. Heat over to 190c / 375F / gas mark 5 and line a small loaf tin with baking parchment or a baking tray for rock cakes as picture.  I can normally make around 18 cakes.
  5. spoon mixture into prepared tin or roll into rock cakes and drop on the tray
  6. Bake for 1 hour 1/4 for the loaf and 20-25 minutes for rock cakes.  Check loaf with a skewer to check fully cooked through.
  7. Turn out and allow to cool on wire rack.

NB.  I tend to freeze mind and take out of the freezer every day, slice the loaf into 8-10 slices prior to freezing.  One slice per day or 2 cakes.
